University lecturer and science communicator since 1998, he obtained his PhD in Chemistry in 2000. Javier has been General Manager of Elisava since 2016, where he was Head of Studies for the Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design Engineering between 2010 and 2016, and co-director of the Master's Degree in Graphic Production and Packaging between 2004 and 2008. He focuses his research on new functional materials, their interaction with life, their relationship with the environment and their selection during the design process. Founder of Materfad in 2008 and Scientific Director until 2018, he has curated several exhibitions and is the author and editor of several books and articles in the field of materials.      

Elisava, Faculty of Design and Engineering at UVic-UCC, promotes education, knowledge and research in the fields of design, communication and engineering. Located in Barcelona, Elisava has trained more than 25,000 students in its 60 years of existence. Together with Elisava Research, the school develops projects with companies, institutions and NGOs to generate and transfer knowledge, address present and future challenges and promote change. Elisava trains professionals with the ability to design products, services and environments to create a society that is environmentally responsible, inclusive and with social impact.
